Advantages of Sand Casting:

1. Almost any ferrous and non-ferrous metals can be casted by sand casting; 

2. Parts caan vary greatly in size, weight and shape. Weight can be from ounces to hundreds of tons; 

3. Cost of tools is low comparing to other process;

5. Relative low cost for high volume parts.

 

Typical minimum wall thickness: smm for lghtalloys -closer 5-6mm for steel and other ferrousalloys. This is highly dependent on the exact alloyso.
